Plastic Pollution Coalition : a worldwide alliance of individuals, businesses, organisations and policymakers, growing in size and influence. 

 

Oceana : protecting the world's oceans. 'Save the oceans, feed the world' campaign. Champions of whales, dolphins and turtles, and all sea life. 

 

Ocean Conservancy : advocates for the oceans, with science-based solutions.

Surfers against Sewage :  marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. Created in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers from the villages of St Agnes and Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall.

The Ocean Cleanup Project: some 6 years ago a Dutch teenager came up with a crazy idea. Today Boyan Slat's proposal for clearing up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in the Pacific is a fully fledged project, currently running into technical problems. A hugely ambitious project, its story is fascinating.

Lucy Siegle's 'Turning the Tide on Plastic : How humanity (and you) can make our globe clean again ' is considered one of the most accessible books on the subject of plastic pollution and what to do about the problem it presents. Lucy, a journalist, is sometimes described as one of the plastic pollution pioneers.

A passionate wake up call from the 16-year old Swedish school girl who has started the growing school kids environmental movement regarding climate change currently in the news.
